Photographer's Note

Thale Noi is not just famous for sunrises, but for its wildlife, in particular water birds like the colourful purple swamphen. In July is breeding season, so this couple of swamphens like countless others were looking where to build their nest on floating vegetation not to far away from the bank of the lake. These hens are not just noisy but also very choosy till they like the future nesting place.

my goodness, what fantastic colors!!

the water lillies are interesting and beautiful themselves, but with these two birds included, this is so gorgeous, it's almost hard to believe it's real. i think i need to get to thailand :)

Hi Urs,
I am recently into birds so this is really something very interesting for me. In the UK we have Moorhens and coots which are kind of similar but black so this couple here seems like it was painted with a bright color. Beautiful wildlife photo, great quality and so interesting!

These swamp hens look very big Urs,
So I think these pink flowers are water lilies..
