Photographer's Note

There is an extensive canal network around the idyllic Thale Noi Lake with winds its way though light secondary jungle. Navigating the long speed boats is not an easy job, there are countless water plants where the boat can get stuck for good. Once reaching the open lake, then the noisy motor is switched on and heads towards the fishing grounds.

Tricky work, navigating these long boats as you say. Man and boat are well placed whilst the canal disappearing under the wooden bridge helps to give the image depth. A pleasantly lit image with good colours and sharpness.

It looks very idyllic indeed this backwater in southern Thailand. It is a pleasing composition with the many bridges over the canal leading the eye on and giving depth to the scene. The boat in the foreground add a further interest of daily life to it.
