Photographer's Note
That is a detail of Wihan Phraphutthasaiyat, the reclining Buddha located in Wat Yai, in Ayutthaya, the capital of Thailand until 1767, when the Burmese army destroyed the city, palaces and temples.
It was constructed in the reign of King Naresuan the Great in the 16th century, for religious adoration and royal meditation.
In the Ws, you can see the entire Buddha which is about 20 meters long (60 feet).
Hope you like it...

Salut Marilyn

Hi Marilyn,
astonishing idea but well done. This close-up has a well chosen content with the mouth, nose and one eye. I like the shadow and light.

Bonjour, mon amie Marilyn,

Good idea to get so close for an original image. You have managed to convey that it probably had gold leaf in the past. The WS is welcome to give us an idea of the size. No doubt a straight-on view would have to be a stitch of several images. Well done

Wow Marilyn! Hats off for this shot. Unique extreme closeup...at first glance I couldn't understand, but after a while, I really liked what you tried here. Possibly you might try a POV slightly to the left too, with more of the upper head & lesser of the chin. Bravo for this!
Cheers
Angshu
Have a great trip!

Bon matin, Marilyn!
What a fascinating view on this "small" detail from the Budha! Good idea to include a few branches of the trees to give us the proportion. Your detail looks more impressive than the entire statue because of the ingenious pov.

Hi Marilyn. Sometimes "less is more" and this is one of those occasions. You've handled the light beautifully and the colours and textures are almost tangible. Superb shot. Kind regards, Paul.

Olá Marilyn, spectacular detail of this reclining Buddha. Love the textures and the eye, behind the nose, looking the blue sky. The white surface has a dificult light but you manage well. Thanks for the general view in WS.
Cheers,
ric
p.s.- hope you had a great time in Burma ;-)
