Photographer's Note

I know this has been photographed zillions of times, but every time I am in Bangkok (very often), I can't refrain from going there and taking a couple of shots... I was experimenting with different f-Stops and here i got to f/29... 30 seconds. ISO 100
For those who don't know, this is Wat Arun

Je sais que cet endroit a 彋� photographi� des milliards de fois, mais a chaque fois que je suis a Bangkok(souvent) je vais y faire un tour et prends quelques cliches... Ici j'exp廨imentais diff廨entes ouvertures... f/29 30 secondes ISO 100
Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas, c'est Wat Arun, un des principaux monuments de la capitale.

Grand classqie c'est sur mais pris juste a la bonne heure avec de magnifiques reflets sur la riviere. Bien vu pour les effets etoiles. Une belle image.

why not again if the shot is so well and nicely captured. Excellent work with the long exposure and the low iso setting. The sharpness is very good and it's great to see the deep blue sky and its reflection which is black. Very fine work, Laurent!

On a tous nos petits povs de reference ou se precipiter des qu'il y a qqch de nouveau a essayer, camera, caillou, filtre, etc...
Belle exposition et la pose longue a bien fige l'eau pour lui donner cet aspect glace, j'aime bien.

Hi Laurent,
I can understand why you are compelled to take photo of this place ... it is magnificient. Good experiment here at 30 secs ... it created a lovely blurry effect in the water. Good light management resulting to a dramatic effect. However, I find too much space occupied by the water ... possibly cutting it to half would be better as it will clearly define your main subject which is the temple. But overall a fine composition with excellent experiment results. Well done! tfs

M瘱e si c'est un classique de chez classique, ta photo est pour le moins magnifique avec une nettet� et des couleurs impressionnantes. Quand on trouve un endroit magique je comprend qu'on puisse le photographier sans cesse et � chaque fois cela donne quelque chose de diff廨ent.
Je ne pensais pas qu'il y est des ouverture aussi petite sur un appareil photo mais j'apprends en permanence.

By looking at your theme, it's impressive that the same place allows such a variety of great views/photos. This one is absolutely magical!

je trouve que le Wat Arun est vraiment plus beau de nuit que de jour!Et tu l'as si bien photographi� que ce n'est pas un probl鋗e de le revoir encore une fois,bien au contraire!La petite ouiverture et la longue pose permettent de voir une multitude de petits d彋ails,et donnent un superbe effet � l'eau.J'aime la couleur du ciel,le reflet du temple,et les petites 彋oiles form嶪s par la lumi鋨e des lampadaires.Magnifique!

I, too, also try to do the river trip every time I visit Bangkok (22 times now?) A well managed late evening / night exposure, with superb colour contrast between the dark blue & yellow/orange. Nice reflections in le riviere 'Chao Phraya'. Merci pour le partage!

Cet 嶮ifice est r嶪llement impressionnant et en lumi鋨e c'est un ravissement pour les yeux. L'heure bleue est superbe et la pose longue donne un bel effet � l'eau et ce reflet. Joli coup d'oeil m瘱e comme le dit Jean-Pierre 蓷 penche l嶲鋨ement � droite.

Yes again and very well done! The light management is superb from the building to the reflection. I love the warm tones in contrast with the surrounding dark blue. You have your rights and you did perfectly. Great work!

Salut Laurent Juste un coup de ShiftN pour r彋ablir la verticale.
Si j'彋ais pr廥ent ici j'aurais tent� ma double exposition HDR, mais h幨as le voyage co壻e un peu cher pour moi.
Ton 400 D est 廦uip� de la balance des blancs, je pense qu'il est possible d'essayer de varier la temp廨ature de couleurs.
Quant � l'exposition elle est correcte.

Cela donne beaucoup de praphisme.

No matter how many times I see Wat Arun in pictures, I would always want to see them more. You certainly have one of the finest portfolio of pictures of this wonderful Wat. Effect of the slow SS is visible in the silky water & reflection. Excellent exposure, sharpness & colour. Marvellous!

f/29!? And my camera only goes to f/8...I guess that's what makes the star effect on the lights, which is nice, specially on the left. For sure the most beautiful temple of Bkk and I think I watched the wonderful royal barge procession from this same POV on our last day here. Good experience with this night capture. Love the soft feeling on the water and the dark blue tones. I wonder if I'll decide to post one of this place, as well... ;-)

Laurent, ce n'est pas parce qu'un monument est pris en photo des milliers de fois qu'il faut s'abstenir d'en faire un beau clich�. Je trouve la photo particuli鋨ement r徼ssie et les trente secondes ont fig� l'eau pour ajouter � la beaut� de l'ensemble.
