And now for some of the more typical sights that visitors go to see in Hue - temples and tombs up the Perfume River from the city centre.
The most common way to visit them is by boat but the boats couldn't get under a bridge due to the flood waters so we had to hire a car and driver.
Our first stop was at the Khai Dinh mausoleum. It was built for Khải Định, the twelfth Emperor of the Nguyễn dynasty. It was built from 1920 to 1931 taking 11 years to complete.
The morning was very dull and wet and not many of my photos of the tomb itself were much good. I had to use an ISO if 3200.
The main photo looks out from the tomb to the entrance and beyond whilst the 1 photos in the WS shows some interior detail and the others a row of statue guards.

Hi Ian
In spite of the bad weather this is a very good image. Colours are lovely and the couple with umbrellas give it scale and the colours of the umbrellas contrasts very well with background.

Pozdrav.
Lep pogled, interesantan teskt ...
Lepa stara arhitektuira i zeleno drvece, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perspektivom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa posetiocima u danu sa kisom.
Dobar rad sa lepim fotografijama u radionici.
Zelim vam sve najbolje.

Hello Ian
Not sure if my tour included this temple mausoleum or not. 2001 was a long time ago! Good timing to catch the 2 tourists touting umbrellas as they pass the gate. Excellent sharpness and lighting. Tfs!

Hello Ian,
Three very good photos. Two beautiful closer views in the WS and a very nice composition in the main photo. The green and hilly background creates an impression of a mausoleum tucked away in the forest. The architecture we see is attractive but the atmosphere of the composition rests upon the two persons coming up the steps.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,
The scenery is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the Khai Dinh mausoleum. The rain is giving a good contrast to the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian,
A great view of the elegant buildings and sculpture in front of the hilly landscape with lots of dark green colours. The people are well included, too.

Hi Ian,
great repoartage and even more interesting it becomes when we read the story. It is quite ironic to say that because the streets were flooded you could not use the boat but you had to hire a car :)
Very well captured,
M

Hello Ian,
Although a dull, wet day, your main photograph is very effective in creating a setting for the temple, showing the surrounding forest and the steep climb to the temple itself.
Of course, the umbrellas and the wet surfaces add the details of the weather conditions.
It's a nicely composed photograph.
I love the details of the mosaic.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
