Station gasoline in altitude, a photo from Dien Bien, North West

Photographer's Note

On his bicycle the pump assistant awaits the customer in a splendid landscape. The gasoline bottles wisely await the motor bike which will have carburized too much in the interminable rise of the pass.

Here probably one of the highest service station of Vietnam, even if altitude remains modest (approximately 2500 m) We are with the pass border between the provinces of Son La and Dien Bien. The "collar between sky and ground".

The road between Dien Bien Phu is extraordinary. A small bitumen lace which curves in the jungle.
At the time of my first stays in this area, the road was only one muddy track. It took 2 days to go from Hoa Binh in Dien Bien in the old Soviet ambulance. The engine spit in the same cockpit of the overheated vapors and the panes of these rudimentary cars did not open. We arrived at the pass completely asphyxiated.

Sur son v幨o le pompiste attend le client dans un d嶰ors splendide. Les bouteilles d'essence attendent sagement la moto qui aura trop carbur嶪 dans l'interminable mont嶪 du col.

Voici probablement une des station service la plus haute du Vietnam, m瘱e si l'altitude reste modeste (environ 2500 m) Nous sommes au col fronti鋨e entre les provinces de Son La et de Dien Bien.
Le "col entre ciel et terre".

Le route entre Dien Bien Phu est Son l� est extraordinaire. Un petit lacet de bitume qui serpente dans la jungle. Lors de mes premiers sejours dans cette r嶲ion, la route n'彋ait qu'une piste boueuse. Il fallait 2 jours pour aller d'Hoa Binh � Dien Bien dans la vieille ambulance sovi彋ique. Le moteur crachait dans l'habitacle meme des vapeurs surchauff嶪s et les vitres de ces voitures rudimentaires ne s'ouvraient pas. On arrivait � ce col compl鋈ement asphyxi�.

Tres bon cadrage, le paysage derriere est grandiose, et je n'ose pas imaginer ce qui se passera si qqn demande un coca au pompiste...

Ca c'est fantastique, Bertrand. Le garcon, il semble suspendu dans l'air de ces montagnes, et ces bouteilles alignees par terre. Couleurs d'une rare clarte, encore un miracle avec ton A80. Et une note examplaire.
Au fait moi aussi je donne dans les velos aujourd'hui - un flic a Tokyo...

c'est encore pire qu'en Birmanie, au moins l� bas ils utilisaient des vieux bidons tout pourris. ;-)
Pour la compo, j'aurais bien vu le gar蔞n et les bouteilles � droite sur la photo, mais peut-皻re que le paysage � gauche n'est pas terrible.

tres belle image qui laisse r瞚eur. sympa cette petite station essence, bien loin du modernisme des grandes villes. j'aime beaucoup la touche de couleur apport嶪 par le gar蔞n sur son v幨o et la brume environnante. le cadre est un peu flashy � mon go壻.

C'est tr鋊 bien construit et constitue un ensemble tr鋊 h彋廨oclite qui... forme un tout tr鋊 coh廨ent : le Vietnam.
Les couleurs sont magnifiques et je l'avoue je craque un peu pour ces petites bouteilles en 1er plan !!

Hi Bertrand, I like the composition here - the boy on the bicycle, the bottles in the foreground and the misty mountains behind. Just a shame the boy isn't more obviously looking into the frame. Still, it is a fascinating image and the boy is showing a nonchalance about this wonderful view. He has seen it so many times before, why should he look now?

Bonjour Bertrand, belle vue et sympatic station essence, un peu rudimentaire, mais bon si il y a de l'essence, tout va bien... J'aime bien cette brume dans le fond du paysage et tout ce vert. Ton cadrage avec le pompiste sur le cot� est excellent. J'aime beaucoup et la note est interessante. Merci bien.

je n'avais encore jamais vu de station service de ce style!! en Mauritanie dans des bidons en fer, mais pas en bouteille, le vendeur a de la chance car il assiste � un spectscle incroyable!! tant de beaut� autour de lui, bravo

Plus grand chose � dire sur la photo apr鋊 toutes ces critiques... J'aime beaucoup la composition et le point de vue, et la petite histoire du quotidien que tes photos racontent.
J'ai vu des "station services" comme celle-l� au Burkina Faso, j'imagine qu'il y en a partout o� les deux-roues sont omnipr廥ents, quelques bouteilles en verre remplies de p彋role au bord de la route...

Belle realisation sur les plans et les couleurs, une image qui depend vraiment de ce que le photographe en tire, selon son inspiration.
Une note generale, la digitalisation de l'equipement donne un resultat "clinique", super-analytique dans la definition et le rendu colorifique, qui me semble flagrant ici, plus que sur d'autres photos de nos galleries, et qui peut servir de reflexion sur le + et - du digital vs argentique.

Quelle belle photo, originale est bien compos嶪 ! Tout y est : le personnage, color�, tronant dans une posture g幯iale sur son velo, le paysage sublime en toile de fond et au premier plan l'originalit� meme de la photo, la plus simple et la moins commune des station essence !

El vendedor de gasolina esta distraido viendo ese precioso paisaje. Cualquier persona haria lo mismo. Muy interesante composicion de colores a nivel de las monta鎙s.

PS This seems similar to Panzhihua,Sichuan, China, a similar altitudeand big landscapes.
