Photographer's Note

It would be strange to the foreigners who visit Hanoi that the Hanoian love showing-up at the public places almost whole summer day. The reason is simple, on those hot sweaty day - it's the best way to save money for electricity and also avoid power cut in many areas caused by drought. Here he is, brings a small radio to the park, takes a seat and listens fixedly to the radio. It could be something very important or even the schedule of black-out next day, I think :-)

This is a really nice portrait. It's also a somewhat mysterious one since it's hard to read this man's facial expression. Thoughtful? Concentrating on listening to his radio? Sad? Cuatious? It could be any of them.

The black and white works very well, and I'm glad you left so much of the tree above him.
