Photographer's Note

Please open both photos in new tabs for the bigger, better versions.
I was looking through my photos from our trip to Vietnam in 2011 the other day and realised that I'd only ever posted 2 photos from Hue. So I'm starting a revisit today.
The biggest attraction in Hue is the 19th century Đại Nội Citadel which was the base for the Nguyen Dynasty emperors and the national capital from 1802 to 1945.
We decided to visit on our first day in Hue but there was one major problem - rain and floods. To even get to near the entrance we had to wade through water for quite some distance and when we got there this is the view we had - the citadel was flooded and closed!
The next day we went back and it was open but still with lots of flood waters. Go the the WS for the next day photo.
