Have I already said that Halong bay was a big disappointment?

Did I mention somewhere that you might only see this kind of view? No, it's not me crying, just the reflections of my mind at the moment.

Hah well it's quite refreshing to hear somebody say their holiday was a disapointment. For me, I only have to obtain a handful of decent photos and I feel the trip is worthwhile.

Only a few words to your note, and a very minimal image, but it's one that speaks very loudly to me and reflects your feelings strongly.

p.s. - I hated Halong Bay. My favorite vacation places in Viet Nam are, of course, the North East, and Mui Ne - still a real town without the hassles and BS....

Brilliant. Only ne suggestion for the title:
"So long, Halong"
(begging for it really...).
I was tere in 95 or so in December and I found the lace drab like a cheap version of Kweilin in China (which I haven't had the opportunity to be disappointed by yet...)
I think we all saw "L'Indochine" and then we saw...this pissy place with all the cheap bars, karakes and brothels and the Chines coming down for a "good time", and the charm, well...it's kind of hard to find.
Love the use of raindrops on a windowpane to show Loch ness, ghostlike reesentations of the famous "rocks".

Hi Luko, i LOVE this image for the great atmosphere, it is different from your style, but with a great mood...the composition out of the glass is simply beautiful..a shot i like to see again and again..

Beinh oui, un touriste normale aurait essay� soit de ne pas prendre de photo, soit de la prendre comme m瘱e 'cash' avec la baie et les 螿ots. Mr Skywalker (pas bcp de sky ici) nous offre qqc de tr鋊 originale qui ne figura jamais dans les catalogues (et pour cause) pour la promotion de le baie ;o) ... pour notre just bonheur ... Celle-ci me rappelle une autre de tes photos, encore une fois tu sugg鋨es subtilement un moment, un lieu de par ces formes ... On est compl鋈ement dans le voyage ...

Magnifique ce model� pictural tout en cama髾u bleu oc嶧n ! ces gouttes qui suent sur cette vitre tout en rendant � merveille l'atmosph鋨e du lieu ....

I guess that's why they call it the Blues... This one is one of the most clever portraits of the Halong Bay hills dear Luko. Nature was really a nice alternative to the "undecisive moment" category... Love your added vignetting. Some may find it a bit too simple; for me it's a brilliant dive into your wide open soul. je trouve celle-ci excellente, malgr� un temps pourri, tu as r徼ssi � faire une merveille !
On se croirait dans un r瞚e o� tout est un peu flou et malgr� tout on voit certaines choses tr鋊 nettes (les gouttes d'eau ici), je ne sais pas si je me fais bien comprendre :)
Il est certain qu'elle est inclassable cette sc鋝e, mais on s'en fout un peu.

Ton cliche ici me fait vraiment rever, j'avoue que sans lire le titre je n'aurais pas trop compris qu'il s'agit de cette merveilleuse baie. je ne sais pas si une autre focale aurait permis de mieux distinguer le paysage, n'ayant jamais essayer ce genre de photo. Cela dit la teinte, ce vignettage m'invite a voyager ici ou ailleurs.

"Halong-bon"... a la vue de cette photo ton sejour sur la baie a ete une torture. Le genre de photo qu'on voit en couverture d'une bio d'un rescape d'Auschwitz... C'est bien dark. Pas vraiment le genre de cliche qu'on imagine quand on va en vacances sous les tropiques.
Ca me plait.

For the picture, you have nothing to look at but a abstract art through a wet window. I guess that if Halong bay is such a wet landscape, I will just imagine they have nice views and will never go there to check it out.

A little to abstract for me, but it give an ambiance and emotion.. so I'll give you that.

Luko, this is a recurrent theme in your shots, crying windows and i know you have a crush for them (oh, this is not new hehe) and it愀 is lovely: moody, makes me think of departures.

c'est peut etre con mais j'adore ce genre de photo ou tout est laiss� � l'imagination de celui qui regarde... la baie d'Halong est sugg廨嶪 et ces gouttes de pluie sur la vitre donnent un cot� de grande nostalgie � l'ensemble;-) bravo!

I like your photo because it conveys a feeling. Rain can be a real blue-mood-maker during vacation travels. When I look at your photo I get a feeling like when I was a little boy and it was raining outside and the parents had forbidden to go outside. So I just sat at the window and looked from the window. And what I saw was tempting and discusting at the same time. I did want and I did not want to go outside. Your photo is also taken from inside, through the window, looking at rainy outside. And probably you also wanted to go out and enjoy. But you could not, it was raining. What a frustration.

I think you have accomplished this photo excellent. The colors match the mood, the fraiming is good and the image is sharp. Even the vignetting around the corners suits well here. So, from purely photographic point of view it deserves a fat green smiley. However, for my taste this one is too artsy for TE. I would say "great" if it was on TrekLens. I think it is dangerously close to "water droplets" mentioned in TE TOS p.8
Halong Bay or Schmalong Bay... couldn't tell from your photo.

A fantastic image of a place of natural beauty that has been exploited to its detriment. I was there back in 2002 and it was beautiful if you managed to ignore the hundreds of other boats with tourists. What a place it must have been back in the day when all that were there were fisherman. Wonderful capture of emotion and perfectly mirror your disappointment.

I've been here long enough to see that this idea was, let's say, 'inspired' by another member :) But no matter, that's how we all learn - right? And what's more important is that you have taken the concept and made it work for you.

Do you still shoot with the Leica, or have you gone 'all digital' on us? Thanks as always for providing much needed highlights here.
