Photographer's Note

Oxcarts were very common before the days of modern automobiles and transport were so common in Costa Rica. Oxcarts were used to carry anything from coffe to luggage and even people, and may still be seen in use today. The traditional oxcart was pulled by two ox's, had 4 sides and 2 wheels. The markings on each oxcart were and are unique to the person who owns them. Every oxcart is hand painted and from the imagination of their owners.
