Photographer's Note

The most famous beach of the south west coast was named after a sad story. Some centuries ago, a fat girl called Maria was kidnapped by pirates on the Venezuelan coast and abandoned here. To survive, she had to sell her body to the buccaneers who passed around. The beach still has her name.

The extraordinary beauty of the coral reefs (inhabited by turtles, reef sharks and other rare species of tropical fish) makes these 8km shore with thin white sand and warm and transparent water a real tropical aquarium. The reefs have easy access, because they stay very close to the beach (the coral reefs and the fish can be seen through the surface).

Pimera critica de tu foto de una Maria que no es gorda ni fue raptada y que te agradece la leccion acerca de las banderas, no lo sabia

La captura deesta playa, leyendo antes tu nota la hace aun mas atractiva
Lo que mas me gusta son los colores del mar y el super cielo
Las palmeras el dan el toque tropical
Buen trabajo

What a tragic story Alexandre but what a beautiful beach.What I really like about this shot, apart from the gorgeous colours, is the movement in the palm trees. The wind is ruffling the fronds and we see that over time it has the effect of shaping the growth. Beautiful. Warm regards Rosemary

doveva essere la mia ultima dedica di ieri, ma avevo fatto male i conti e il sito me l'ha annullata perch� era di troppo.
Rimedio oggi perch� la foto � bella e merita di essere presa in considerazione per la bellezza della composizione, lo stesso paesaggio ripreso ed i colori incantati dell'Isola di Cuba.

I see but one man on the beach, notwithstanding a lovely beach with palm trees, but Maria is not more to see ( joke )
You chose a very well angle this gives depth and perspective.

triste historia que da nombre a esta maravillosa playa, salvaje y con una gran belleza natural. Es raro que la voracidad del hombre no la haya destrozado todav燰.
Me gustan esos cocoteros inclinados hacia el agua turquesa del Caribe, como queriendo tomar un ba隳 refrescante.
Su gran belleza, combinada con los tonos azules del mar y del cielo, crean una imagen impactante y muy atractiva, perfectamente organizada en una bonita composici鏮.

Ciertamente triste historia, pero interesante nota que da introduccion a esta bellisima composicion, la perspectiva de la playa es genial, pero el grupo de palmeras es ciertamente maravilloso, el precioso cielo como fondo es un gran bonus.
Un perfecto colorido muy natural.

Notable wind blowing the tall and flexible palm-trees along the beach, Alexandre, the trees seem to hold well and beautifully bent.
