Photographer's Note
A view of Volc嫕 San Pedro from from across Lake Atitl嫕 at Santa Cruz de la Laguna (La Iguana Perdida hostel, a fantastic place).
The lake is volcanic in origin, filling an enormous caldera formed in an eruption 84,000 years ago. It is renowned as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, and Aldous Huxley famously wrote of it: "Lake Como, it seems to me, touches on the limit of permissibly picturesque, but Atitl嫕 is Como with additional embellishments of several immense volcanoes. It really is too much of a good thing."
The lake basin supports extensive coffee growth and a variety of farm crops, most notably corn. Other significant agricultural products include onions, beans, squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, garlic, chile verde, strawberries, avocados and pitahaya fruit. The lake itself is rich in animal life which provides a significant food source for the largely indigenous population.(Wikipedia)

Hi Phillip,
Wonderful. It brings back good memories of 10 years ago. I was there for 3 weeks, enjoying the morning swims and the relaxed atmosphere of a meditation centre. Wonderful photograph. Yes, back then was the time before digital cameras. Films gives a totally different atmosphere - especially when being developed in Antigua ;-) - as you can see here and here.
Thanks for bringing back good memories!
Greetings,
Dennis

Hi Phil, very nicely done. I particularly like the poles sticking out of the water right on the edge of the area that is well lit. The cloud cap on the volcano is great too. It's the little touches that make a noteworthy photo when the theme is a relatively common one like this, and you have taken full advantage. Your handling of the light (in taking the picture and in PP, presumably) are excellent, too. Regards, Ken.
