Rain and Shine, a photo from Berat, South

Photographer's Note

This image was taken while the sun appeared for a moment at midday on a rainy day. The wet road reflected the sunshine and the shot was taken contre jour hence the strong contrast which looks a bit surreal.
The idea was to overexpose the road to create a slightly high key look.

That what is written in the commentary absolutely can not be seen on the photo. The road looks like a white abmis, it is overexposed - completely "burnt". The idea is great, the composition is good, but the realization is very weak!

Hello Kasia,
This is a good composition and I think your idea of extreme contrasts works quite well. It will puzzle a lot of people, and may not please everyone, but I find the exaggerated effect quite appealing.

From the thumbnail, I thought it was a snow scene! Good POV to frame the road, the man seems to fly in the white area, but I would have let some details on this wet road.
Nevertheless, congratulations to try something new and to explain your intention.

I also like the effect. The white-out on the road creates a two-dimensial effect on the solitary walker. The result is a slightly bizarre and intriguing picture. Thumbs up for bravery.

jak widze tez zaczelas przygode z fotografia czarno-biala i bardzo silnym kontrastem.Fotografia High-Key i Low-Key.Czytalem o tego typu zdjeciach i musze przyznac,ze efekty moga byc naprawde niesamowite.Na twoim zdjeciu kontrast pomiedzy droga a tym czlowiekiem jest naprawde super i faktycznie tworzy niemalze surrealistyczny rezultat.Do tego bardzo podoba mi sie sam kadr.Znalazlas swietne miejsce do tej fotografii,jak rowniez i pogoda dopisala w stworzeniu tak unikalnego efektu.

This is an interesting and bold experiment that needs some courage to present here.
The person seems to walk on a river of molten light and contrasts, black as he is, so beautifully against the stark white. It is quite an intriguing effect not unpleasant to look at.
Chapeau for your courage, keep it up.

I love the composition in this picture, it cannot be better and the man with the umbralla really is the cherry on top! however I am not so sure that the pp has worked for me.

I am scratching my head as to remember where this place might be but I do not know!

Hi Kasia. There is something disturbing when a person does not cast a shadow. That strange phenomenon adds to the eerie aspect of the image- he seems to be floating above a river of light even though it is only a road. Pozdrawiam. Klaudio.

Hi Kasia,
I really like this idea of overexposure/underexposure: the "trick" did what it was meant to do: the shiny curved white road is in strong contrast with the walking black man. Just great! :)
I might suggest cropping a little bit of the right side, to place more accent on the walking man and road, but this is just my opinion :)

Hi Kasia,
This strong image is wonderful as the person appears walking upon water in a canal. The high angle, exposure, textures, and the curve of the road are all perfect for this shot.
