Photographer's Note
My apologies for not posting more photos from Lindau, but I am going away for a few days and did not have access to the Lindau photos.
Greinburg Castle occupies a position high above the Danube Valley.. The small town of Grein is at the base of a precipitous cliff. In the year 1823 German Duke Ernst I of Saxon-Coburg and Gotha acquired the Castle and its estates. Even today, the ducal Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha Family have been responsible for the maintenance of this historical building.
This is the oldest Residential Castle in Austria. It was built around 1490. The inner court yards are bedecked with beautiful arcades of the late Renaissance era. The Castle features unique rooms with original wall decorations: Highlights are the impressive Knights’ Hall, the Castle and, the Chapell, with its early Baroque altar, a unique cellular vault, the fascinating play of light and shadow, and the Stone Theater that has been decorated with pebbles from the Danube. The massive Castle walls also house the history of the international Saxon-Coburg-Gotha Dynasty. The Coburg festival rooms with their precious furniture can only be visited within a guided tour.
This castle is situated along Austria Bundestrasse 3 only about 40 KM or 25 miles from Linz, Austria. If you drive from Linz to Vienna on the Danube river drive you will find this beauty.

Hi Roger,
The trees are framing well the castle. The point of view is showing the details of the Greinburg castle. The cloudy sky is giving a good contrast to the colours. Have a nice day.

Hi Roger
Is certainly an imposing castle, set high above the town watching down on the normal folk! Amazing that the castle is so old too, it's design is so very different from Irish buildings of the same era, this is a lot more palatial and impressive
Best wishes

Hello Roger,
Your point of view shows the imposing architecture of the castle to superb effect as well as how it dominates the town set out below. Very good technical realisation with pleasing colours and excellent clarity.

Bonjour Roger,
Il semble y avoir une petite brume dans l'air à cet endroit, ce qui rend les formes très douces. Mais les couleurs superbes des maisons ressortent bien malgré tout.
Amicalement

Hello Roger,
Wonderful how this castle is overlooking the village and the river.
The green slope between the castle and the village looks like a well maintained park.
Beautifully taken from on a bridge or perhaps on a boat.
Best regards, Paul
