Photographer's Note
Schloss Leopoldskron
This was once a palace, but now turned to a hotel.
You may have seen this building before in the movie
SOUND OF MUSIC starring Julie Andrews.
The rococo palace, preserved in its original style with a 270 year old patina of historic stucco, creates a relaxed living experience in a cozy atmosphere. This holds true for residence in one of the 11 suites of the palace, all lounge areas, and the spectacular location of the palace terrace, all guaranteed to please its guests.
On chilly days, the crackling fireplace in the Great Hall invites social conversation, while the library - Max Reinhardt’s favorite room - encourages one to browse through its selection. In any case, you should take the time to embrace a living experience at Leopoldskron Palace, savoring historical impressions and recreating the past.
It is a magnificent site, opposite the river where I took the shot was a cafe shop, with seats outside to soak in the beauty of the buildng and nature

Hello Dan,
I've seen the movie on TV but that was a long time ago ... can't remember if sat through all of it but Julie Andrews stuck in my mind. Nice peaceful place and atmosphere. I like the blue tones & reflections. Good pano format to emphasize the length of the forest and the alps in the background. Regards. Latiff.

Dan,
This is a nice panoramic shot of this beautiful lake and surrounding trees. The placement of the castle is great giving the photo an excellent sense of depth and direction. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. I was at this spot on July 4th but the weather was not as nice for my photos as it was for yours.

Hello Dan,
I just saw "The Sound of Music" again, maybe for the 20th time! I like this simple capture of the palace, with the tranquil lake. In the movie we get the reverse view, with the characters looking out onto the lake from the palace grounds. It is nice to see an alternate POV.

Hi Dan, I hope that all is well. Wow, what have you been doing in Austria, that's my country of birth (and Salzburg is where my mother was born). Good simplicity in this composition, with a fine tranquil aspect added by the reflections. The color scheme seems to slightly tend into the blue, but it may just be the monitor of my laptop computer.
Also, I see that you have a D300 now with the 18-135, you must have quite some fun with the new gear.
Greetings from Canada (just wrapping up a trip), and take care.
