Victory Square (Belarusian: Пло́шча Перамо́гі, Russian: Пло́щадь Побе́ды) square (round) in the centre of the City of Minsk located at the crossing of Independence Avenue and Zakharau Street. The square is located in the historic centre of Minsk nearby with the museum of the 1st Congress of RSDLP, Main offices of National State TV and Radio and City House of Marriages. A green park stretches from the Victory Square to the river of Svislach and to the entrance to the M. Gorky Park. Victory Square is the key landmark of Minsk. Holiday parades go through the square. The newly married traditionally take their picture at the square. Victory Square is a key landmark for Belarus like Red Square in Moscow for the Russian Federation. The red letters on the buildings read "Heroic deed of the people is immortal". A 3-meter replica of the Order of Victory crowns a granite column of 38 metre erected in the centre of the square. The Sacred Sword of Victory is at the base of the monument. The monument was built in 1954 in honour of the soldiers of the Soviet Army and partisans of Belarus.rnrnPicture was taken from the bus going to the airport.

I was there on ( May - in the Soviet Union it was the Victory Day (in the West countries - 8 May. Dark green and red are the colours of the Belorussian flag - a red-and-green flag with a white-and-red ornament pattern placed at the staff (hoist) end. The current design was introduced in 2012 by the State Committee for Standardisation of the Republic of Belarus, and is adapted from a design approved in a referendum in May 1995. It is a modification of the 1951 flag used while the country was a republic of the Soviet Union. rnNow the people who protest in the whole Belarus want the White-red-white flag of Belarus (1918, 19911995).
