Photographer's Note
It’s back to the Brugge mini series. This picture is taken on the same Rei as the one captured
here.
It’s the Gouden Hand Rei. Basically only that, a characteristic bridge and an adjacent house with a Romanesque door is depicted here.
I guess that this tranquil scene must have looked the same 400 years ago. Again the time-machine feeling…..
I like the elementary forms and the weathered textures so much here that I decided to post the B&W to emphasize these aspects. For reference I posted the unedited pic as a WS.
PCS tech (16 bit/channel mode): tilt corrected, cropped, desaturated, adjusted levels & contrast, curves manipulated, USM-ed, frame added and saved for the web.

Nice symmettery here. Very good. Good choice of photo for black and white.

I enjoy very much water reflections and this one is very fine, I like in particular the view from the side, giving a tilt in the symetry, something different from "usual" reflection picture. The B&W tones are very nicely contrasted and emphasize the "timeless" atmosphere. Well done!

Prachtig Bert,

I think the b&w conversion makes it look delightfully artistic, Bert. The details, of the "real" part as well as of the reflection, are quite crisp, and the compositional diagonal successfully avoids a too flat sort of view - actually even gives a good sense of perspective from the angle of the brick arch against the bright wall. Well-seen detail, very nice.

I really like these textures on the wall and bridge. And then how they are mirrored in the water. It's a good tight view, also. The building and bridge balance each other out. And the lonely "balcony" seems so empty here. It gives it that extra quietness and loneliness. Very nice. Simple view but very well done and probably managing quite a lot of surroundings very well.

A simple and yet effective shot. Very minimalist, with a perfect reflection.

How nice photographed, Bert, three different "round" parts and reflected in the water, all in a great B/W, very nice !

sober b&w after that "fete des couleurs" in the last post...
how do you get that exact amount of brightness/contrast which renders such rich tones of gray, bert? everything is ps or the original overcast day helped a bit?

Happy new year, Bert. This shot is a great composition, full of nice geometries and textures. Your BW conversion also rocks and transforms a well framed photo to an exceptional picture!

Really beautiful composition and well worked out in b&w.
I have watched some of your work here, and I must say that you raise the standards of TE photography! I'm pretty much impressed by many of your pictures. Thanks a lot for sharing.
