Photographer's Note
I dedicate this upload to one of the longest standing members on TE, to John Maenhout (jhm) who lives only some km from Bruges in Belgium. He recently uploaded an almost identical view on the famous bell tower on the market square in central Bruges.
With countless photo ops, it is now wonder really that Bruges attracts over 3.2 million visitors every year.

Hello Daniel,
I remember John's photo but not exactly what it looked like, but I am sure your version can stand a comparison very well. The buildings are just as magnificent, of course, and the vertical composition is ideal for this view. You were also lucky to have a fantastic light and some very nice clouds. The superb exposure and sharpness are entirely your own contributions.
Ha en trevlig söndagskväll.

Hi Daniel
With so many photos of this view it's not easy to come up with something original but you managed to do just that!
The light is magic and the pastel colour make the image stand out from the crowd.

Hello Daniel,
Your picture benefits a wonderful light on the tower of the belfry and in the sky.
The point of view is very familiar to me but the quality of this picture is absolutely spotless.
Perfect sharpness.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Daniel,
Yes, I remember John's photograph of this lovely belltower and I am sure that he will not only love this photograph but also be very proud that you have dedicated it to him.
Your composition is excellent, the belltower perfectly placed in the frame, and the lighting is beautifully soft, bringing out all the lovely details and textures of the tower and of the brickwork in the closer buildings.
What I also find interesting (because I've just had another look at John's photograph to refresh my memory) is that you have taken this at a focal length of 180mm whereas John's was taken at 85mm so you have both probably been standing at almost exactly the same viewpoint.
I suspect also that you have done some work in Lightroom to lighten some overly dark shadows, but you have done that very subtly indeed and the effect is truly lovely.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Bonjour Daniel,
Très beau tribut pour John et surtout très beau cadrage vertical de ce quartier de Bruges. J'aime la texture de l'image ainsi que l'aspect dramatique causé par ce ciel extraordinaire.
Bon dimanche

Hello Daniel
With so many cliché pictures of old Bruges around, this one is not only top quality, but also just that little bit different. I love the slightly desaturated feel of the stone colours, and that majestic sky.
I bet John'll be proud of this dedication.
Greetings
Benny

Hi Daniel
The 3D whet you have hear makes this photo really outstanding, it seems I could reach out and feel the texture of that tall white spire. All of the brickwork is incredibly detailed. Fantastic shot sir, really nicely done . That sky is a wonder too .

Hello Daniël,
Thank you very much for the tribute, indeed a place were I yesterday yet came passed.
Bruges a small city but a wonderful open air museum city.
Happy that during WW II Churchill and Hitler had an agreement not to bombard Bruges.
Your picture is real nice with the belfry as real eye catcher on the nice picture..
Your picture is perfect sharp and clear.
Very well composition and presentation, TFS.
Have a nice evening,
John.

Hello Daniel,
a marvellous photo of this iconic cityscape, so familiar even to people who have never visited Bruges (like myself:) Your composition offers us a well balanced and imposing view, the bell tower is placed excellently and the perspective is great. The viewer can lose track of time while studying textures and details, the colours are most pleasing. I like the way you illuminated the cityscape and got lovely light and colours in the backdrop as well. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania

Hi Daniel
So you liked Bruges alot did you? its a really small town right? how many days is sufficient here? Its certainly on my list of places to see.
for obvious reasons that tower stands out so well, its a different colour than the rest of the brick buildings and the sky helps with that as well.
cool compo with the collage format, lots to like here.
cheers

Hello Daniel,
A photograph that is exceptionally well exposed and a fitting tribute to John.
Bruges is a beautiful city with ancient, and attractive buildings and your photograph defines these qualities with great accuracy.
I particularly like your composition, which gives strong f/g details and a natural movement to the tall, bell tower.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Daniel
The famous edifice, probably the most photographed, stands proud and majestic in full glory against the skyline. Couldn't agree more, spoiling the grandeur of the location. This is an excellent image, it has a very subtle HDRish look and composition works. Congrats.
Best wishes

Ciao Daniel
sicuramente un ottimo tributo a John, ma anche alla città, questa foto è molto bella, le architetture sono splendide, ma hai trovato anche un ottimo cielo che ha dato un grosso contributo alla riuscita della foto.
Saluti
