I saw this summer holiday boat in Kamchia Biosphere Reserve, where is also a summer beach resort with the same name. I liked the colourful look it had, for it was a very moody and cloudy day and the boat stood there as if newly painted.
The Biosphere Reserve, South of Varna and named after the Kamchia River, is famous for its very special "Longoz" forests, situated in the lower course of the river. They are the best representatives of their kind throughout Europe. The forests look like a jungle with creepers interweaving with the trees or hanging down like thick draperies. You can see them around the boat on this picture too.
23 fish species and a lot of mammal species are found in the waters of the river as well as on the adjoining marshlands. But the most interesting of all are the birds: Kamchia is Important Bird Area, situated on the migratory flyway Via Pontica, allowing the observation of various bird species that stop to rest and feed during migration. Here can be spotted Black Stork, Lesser Spotted Eagle, Hobby, Scops Owl, Nightjar, various Woodpeckers, Tawny Pipit, Barred Warbler, Semi-collared Flycatcher, Icterine Warbler etc.
The beaches here used to be very wide...untill this winter. :-( Unfortunately they are almost "eaten" by the sea and now I noticed that some anty-erosion works has started already. I hope they will be completed in time to preserve the rare flora and fauna there.
The glory of the summer resort is a bit faded away, but even so, it is still visited by a lot of local and foreign tourists during summer, for it offers nice opportunities for fishing, boat-trips alongside the river, vacation in nature - away from the noisy, dirty cities and crowded seaside resorts.
