Photographer's Note

2 km west of the town of Orebic is a Gothic-Renaissance Franciscan Monastery of the fifteenth century. From the monastery on the top of high Mount of Vipers - 961 m (Mount St. Ilija) a steep, winding road. We rode bikes there-loaded saddlebags, but only halfway up the mountain. Above the monastery on the slope of Mount Sveti Ilija is a Baroque church, which for centuries was the temple of seafarers. Beautifully situated next to the church, the old cemetery, in itself is a monument. The highest mountain of the peninsula Peljesac - St. Ilya - offers panoramic views of the southern Adriatic.
