Photographer's Note
The British square (Britanski trg) in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, is a daily open air farmers' marketplace with fresh fruit, vegetables and other foods brought directly from farms around the city. And as such it's a revered urban area among the population of Zagreb, located along Ilica Street in the city center only a kilometer west of the main square Trg bana Jelačića.
But each Sunday this square is turned into an antiques fair - a kind of an upscaled flea market - with a remarkable variation of items (see WS) for sale. Not so much for tourists, as for the Zagrebians themselves. But it’s a good place to visit, just for your own entertainment.
So if you're ever in Zagreb, don't miss out on this opportunity to sit down under the red umbrellas having a coffee - preferably an espresso macchiato - or a beverage together with some very lovable Croatian people.
The square is known by the locals as "Britanac" - just like that!
