Roofs valley, a photo from Prague, Bohemia

Photographer's Note

This picture was taken from the very top of the Old Town Hall (built in 1338), which is situated on the Old Town Square.
In fact there are several buildings in the Town Hall ensemble but the main one is 69.5 meters high tower. Some parts of the town hall was destroyed in WWII but then completely renovated and now it has an original view.
I recommend you to go to the roof of the tower where you can enjoy views of Hradcany and quarters near by. You can walk up either on stairs, or use an elevator.
Of course i walked up, elevator is too much comfortable for my adventurous character :)

Amazing shot! I like photos that show us a different perspective, like this one, looking down from above. The jumble of red roofs is not normally visable, but in this shot they are. The tiny people in the square are so small, it gives this a lot of perspective. Well done!

Very colourful scene and very graphic for an old town. The buildings look well looked after. I like all the people and the terraces. The pavement is interesting too with all the squares. Excellent details and sharpness.

Hi Veronika - wow, it looks reaaaaaly crowded in that square, I really like the tight crop and the vertiginuous perspective, and a reminder for me to avoid this city during the busy summer months. If this is Prague, why did you list it under Praque?? Anyway you can correct this using your "manage" page.

You just gave me a reason to go a second time to Praha. Walk up all stairs to the top of the Old Town Hall tower. Your photo gives a very nice bird perspective of this lovely place showing the crowded square and also the colorful houses and roofs.

Hi Vero. A slightly dizzying downward view on the roofs and the old-town façades of Prague (I really should go there again, I only saw it once 20 years ago). The vividly saturated colors and good contrast enhance this presentation that has many details without looking too crowded. Also a good photo for anyone who is interested in graphical patterns (rooftiles, windows, sidewalk pavement, etc.). Nice one :)

of course; why do it easy if you can do it the hard way ;-)). I like the view (it seems I'm not the only one...). The roofs create nice colour patterns and there is also a good division (upper left / lower right) in the shot. Great architecture and looooots of people. A cat could lose it's kittens in there ;-). Well done, excellent quality and good ambiance.

Hi Vero, i keep the best for the end on my critics run, and this one is really brilliant ! Everything is good, but you already know that, it seems to be unreal given the fact the building have flashy colors and a lot of shapes, contrasts are good leveled, composition is well done : building part and "ants part" :)) Brilliant "contre plong嶪" picture :))

You have a good mind for angle and composition Veronika. Angle/composition is very important in photography. It is how you lead us, to see and understand, as well as appreciate, what is important to you that you see. Here in your photo, I see the artistic expression through the facades and roofs of the buildings.And how bid they are.

A very impressive image, Veronika, from the perfect POV. The angle at which you have taken this provides a nice balance to the image. You've pushed the saturation to just about the limit - but it works well - so good judgment on your part! Cheers . . . David

Hello Veronika (may I call you Vero to abbreviate?), your image of Stare Mesto Namesti is really impressive, and very well done, but what has called more my attention, has been the colors of the buidings in front the Old Town Hall, they are exactly as I remember when I was there. :P
