Photographer's Note
August is supposed to be a fair weather month but it is not a condition, and I remember the rain and the frustration. But as we all know, photographers are patient, and always try to challenge the conditions.
Here we were visiting the Hradcany Castle on the hill overlooking Prague, and the rain had become our companion. The tourists were also there with their colorful umbrellas. This is a slide and I desaturated the austere facade of the St Vitus Cathedral and left only the people and their reflections.

Looks like a very complicated desat job, very patient work, and a very effective highlighting the colour against the gothic facade. Just a thought, maybe worht cropping the cropped person in blue on the far left.

Rain has not only become your companion, it has become your composition too,Izzet.
Nice architectural details in B&w in the background and a beautiful colourful atmosphere in the foreground.
Admire your POV and the patience.
Best regards,

Merhaba İzzet Bey,
Arka plandaki siyah-beyaz mimari detay önünde renkli ve ahenkli topluluk ile yerdeki yansımaları harika...

Great idea and work-out. Your partial desaturation works well and the reflections really are the spot-on!

Hi Izzet. An interesting experiment. Actually by desaturating the building, you gave it more importance. Its masonry becomes more noticeable when contrasted against the bright humans.Clever manipulation of reality. Regards. Klaudio

Hi Izzet, nice partial desaturation technique to serve your esthetic goals, I like the contrast between the colourful people and umbrellas and the austere cathedral. Your way of presenting it was the only proper way, I think.
Cheers

Bonjour Izzet,
Une très belle image avec des reflets superbes. Cette opposition de N&B et de couleurs est superbe. Bravo.

Hi Izzet. I think the key to this one is that you kept the colors in not only the people, but also in their reflections on the wet pavement. It is a nice way to give punch and interest to this sort of scene. And I imagine that the post-work was quite tedious and time-intensive.
You know at times it is really funny how we have very similar ideas in similar situations. A while ago, I did exactly the same treatment to a rain photo from Florida (I only have it on my photo site as I don't think it's up to my TE standard).

What a magnificent image! Desaturation of the cathedral has made this really striking. Reflections are fantastic.

Inanilmaz derecede keyifli bir resim. Siyah beyaz background onunde renklerin kontrasti mukemmel. Kesinlikle photoshop uygulamasi varmis gibi gozukuyor. Diger yorumlara baktıgimda bircok kisi de boyle oldugunu dusunuyor. Orjinal diye yazdiginizdan PS uygulamasi olmadigini dusunuyorum. Eger yok ise mukemmel bir isik uygulamasi; yok eger var ise, yine mukemmel bir PS uygulamasi... Her halukarda ellerinize saglik.

Hi Izzet,
This is one of those remarkable shots where the rain turned out to be your ally. The wet pavement really reflects the colour of the people and their umbrellas. I like the largely B&W motif for the balance of the shot. This is very artistically pleasing, with the ancient castle starkly contrasting with the vivid colours and dynamism of the living crowd. I like this one very much, Izzet.

Hi Izzet,
Fantastic! Superb! No praise is enough for this. The partial deesaturation has been perfectly applied here. It seems that that castle has stood still in time while the people make a constant journey. Well Done!
