Photographer's Note

The place de la republique is a square in Paris, located on the border between the 3rd, 10th and 11th arrondissements. At the square center stands a 9.4 m bronze statute of Marianne holding aloft an olive branch in her right hand. The statue sits atop a monument which is 23 m high. Marianne is surrounded with 3 statues personifying liberty, equality, and fraternity. Also at the base is a lion guarding a depiction of a ballot box. 5 subway lines cross at republique square, making of the station an important node of Paris transportation network. It's a bustling and popular place, crowds rallied on the place following the november 2015 Paris attacks to cry for the victims, demonstrate, light a candle.

As a reminder : on november 13th, 2015, a series of coordinated terrorist attacks occurred in Paris and its northern suburb, Saint-Denis. About 130 people were killed, 368 were injured, 80�99 severely injured. 7 of the attackers also died. Critiques are welcome. Source : wiki

Hi, Gueguel. Nice vertical composition of Place de la republique square in Paris and taken from a good point of view. Exposure is sharp and including people always adds to the interest and also gives an idea of the scale of the monument. Thanks for sharing.

A fine photo from this iconic place in the daily life of Parisians. The monument is seen from a fine angle with an attractive view of the street behind. As always it is an advantage to see some people included in a street-photo.

Really sore attacks happened few months ago in Paris center gueguel, Place de r廧ublique becomes the rallying point to several demonstrations, tfs!
