Photographer's Note
Travelling to France we get sudden surprised by de location of this village in a old crater. We were not only surprised by the location of the village but also by the rest and isolation! We no longer know exact the location and name. Does someone know it?

Here some more information about this place that i recive from LACROUX:
This is the "cirque de Navacelles", is not a crater but a canyon.
The "Cirque de Navacelles" is large cirque landform, located towards the southern edge of the Massif Central mountain range in France. It is located near Saint-Maurice-Navacelles, in the H廨ault d廧artement.
After the cirque's formation by glacial erosion (approx. 3 million years ago), a river channel cut through the base of the valley, creating an Oxbow lake within the cirque, a loop in the river that eroded itself through. The lake later dried up, leaving deposits of silt and peat. This created what is the only patch of arable land for many, many miles around.

Hello there
This really looks like an interesting place. And when it comes to the location I'm afrain I can't help, I haven't visited france yet but will in a few weeks time.
The photo composition looks good, it is not the st because I think the photo looks a little bit crowded. There area few features that steal the attention: the surrounding mountains, the sparse vegetation on the slopes, the contrast between the dark green vegetation and the bright rock/gravel.
None the less it looks like a very intersting place. What makes sure that the view is really pulled down into the village is the horseshoe shaped fields behind it.
Overall it looks good.
Thank you for sharing.

How amazing. I can't believe how an entire town is in a crater like that. What a surprise indeed. It's neat to see how there is still grass at the bottom and it almost looks like only rock up the sides of the crater. Interesting.

Hello,
A nice picture of the south France.
Interesting light and colors balance.

Hi Kik,
I'm used to move up and down for this area of Languedoc-Rousillon, following the "senthier cathare", and all its castles, ut I've been really surprised by your shot. Original and very interesting place to visit next time I travel there. Amazing! Thanks.
Kind regards
Felip
