Photographer's Note

View of Lake Annecy from the Europa Park in the charming town of Annecy.

Annecy Lake is a lake in Haute-Savoie, eastern France. It is famous for being one of the cleanest lakes in the world. It is also the second largest lake after Lake Bourget France except the French side of Lake Geneva.

The lake was formed 18,000 years ago during the great melting Alpine glaciers.
It is fed by several small rivers, born in the nearby mountains (Ire, Eau morte, Laudon, and Biolon Bornette), and by a powerful underwater source, the Boubioz, rising to 82 m deep. This surrounded the east by the Bornes Massif and the West by the Mont Blanc Massif to the north by the agglomeration of Annecy and the south by a wide valley.

The lake expels its excess water and channel Thiou Vasse, which bind and feed the Fier, 1,500 m north of Annecy, which eventually joins the Rhone.

It is a very attractive tourist destination, known for its water activities.
