Photographer's Note

BOURGUEIL VII.
This is my last posting on our journey in the Bourgueil
area. To finish the day, which was the National Day, 14th July, we had a boat trip on the river Loire, from Candes-St-Martin to Saumur. As we were arriving, the sun was going down, and this is the view we got to the West, while the East was covered in a pink veil by the sun, as shown in the WS.
We stayed there enjoying a meal on board, as we were waiting for the night and the firewoks to start. These were out of this world, but I wasn't confident enough in photography, to capture them...
The chateau built in the 14th century as a fortress, still dominates the city and the river with its elegant architecture. After housing the count of Anjou, it then became the residence of the governor in the 17th-18th centuries, then a prison, barracks; and now 3 museums.
Saumur is particularly famous for its cavalry school " le cadre Noir " founded by the protestants, when they held the city.
It's still remarkable nowadays, as I 'll show in a few added photos in WS.
