Photographer's Note
In my quest of seeing & showing Paris differently, render well-known topics as fresh images....familiar landmarks from a not-so-common point of view....
I surely don't need to say anything about the tower you see in the distance...the Eiffel Tower which needs no introduction....but the place I took this picture from, perhaps does.
Riding the Metro to Javel, I had reached Pont Mirabeau. The bridge was built between 1895 and 1897 & spans the Seine from the 15th arrondissement (left bank), to the 16th arrondissement. It links rue de la Convention and place Mirabeau, on the left bank, to rue de Rémusat. On the left side, upstream, is the gare de Javel of the RER, line C. The bridge is served by the Paris Metro stations Mirabeau and Javel - André Citroën.
The bridge is 173 meters long, 20 m. wide (the roadway measures 12 m., and the two pavements 4 m. each). It was from one of the 4 metre wide pavement that I took this shot.
Why the title...Paris, New York? I invite viewers to look closer into the picture & possibly they can decipher the reason themselves?!
Below the Pont Mirabeau
Slow flows the Seine
Let night fall, let the hours go by
The days pass on and here stand I

Hello Angshuman
It's rare to see a shot of the iconic Eiffel Tower including the fg river, so tfs. I've seen many shots wuth the ornamental fountains but almost none with the Seine River as here. Good inclusion of the colorful & ornate gold fence too as it adds depth. Tfs!

Hello Angshuman,
I spotted the detail! This is a fine view with an attractive foreground which captures several aspects of Paris in one shot. The altitude of this place is not worth mentioning, i agree :-)
Kind regards,

Hi Angshuman,
The distance between the bridge and the Eiffel tower is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of each side of the Seine river. The evening light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Angshu - Your little quiz has got me thinking.... could it have anything to do with the sailing ship decorating the cast iron bridge? Did it travel between Paris and New York? If not then I am stumped! To the shot. A strong and clever composition. The FG detail is both interesting and pin-sharp and adds a new dimension to Eiffel Tower shots. Well managed work where the light has added super contrast and warmth. Best regards Rosemary

Hi Angshu
I am happy to discover this surprising picture from you! On one hand, because Paris is a city I love, and I am curious to know how you appreciated it; on the other, because I really love the colors of the bridge guardrail. I don't remember ever to have seen such attractive colors on the metallic bridge! That's a wonder! The Eiffle tower, in the background, is pale, in comparison! :)
Somehow, a classic, for the POV but you renewed it and magnified it with this antique guardrail. Good exposure, too!
Congratulations!

Namaste, my friend Angshuman,
a very clever composition, in which you have created an elegant overlapping of some really aesthetic and interesting elements, as the railing of the bridge in foreground, the Seine River, the original Liberty Statue, and the impressive Eiffel Tower in background.
The light is great, the colors are very beautiful, and the sky and the clouds add a precious complement to this good composition.
An excellent work.
Best wishes,
Josep

Hello Angshu,
The green colour of the rail says something about that age of the bridge..!
The amazing details of the rail makes a fine and original framing of the view to the tower and the river, and the great light this fine summer day really makes all details stand out...
A well framed scene, lovely colours of course!

Namaskar dear Angshu
Firstly to your photo and then to your quiz. I really like how you've included the golden filigree of the bridge in the foreground. I probably would have straightened the distortion of the bridge on the right so it looks straight. But that's nit-picking. The colours, the depth of field and perspective are wonderful. Now to your quiz. I'm intrigued, and it seems you could be alluding to the fact that the Statue of Liberty was bought by the Americans from the French? Wonderful shot, and I look forward to learning the answer.

Hello my dear Angshuman-san,
This is my very first critique that I write in the year 2012. How could I have missed this image, Angshuman-san? I know the place and I can even feel what is like to be there. I had a couple of very close friends who lived two minutes away from where you stood on this very bridge. They now live in Monaco. But they kept their apartment and I believe that their place is still there today. As I write this review, I am totally overwhelmed by two facts, one is the fact I have just explained, and the other reason is that I am so emotionally touched by your kindness and by your intension. The importance is not in the order that I mentioned; I am so ashamed to find your kindest offer only now. How could I have missed this? How stupid I feel, please do accept my utmost apology.
The image depicted in this photo for me therefore has double the emotional impacts, and double the importance. How I wished I knew the existence of TE while I lived in Paris. We could have met in Paris, and even on this very bridge perhaps over a glass of wine. Everything contained in this photo brings me back to the days I spent there. The well-framed view from this bridge is spectacular, the inclusion of the hand railing and its details give us the reality of standing on this beautiful bridge, looking far into the distance from here. Ah.. I feel my life vibrating, breathing, and experiencing the fulfilled happiness. I have never before revealed the very reason why in a single minded manner I insist on presenting images of Paris as I saw and felt with my skin. Perhaps one day I will explain the very reasons publicly. But for now I close my eyes to all that and I continue presenting images from Paris as I feel that it has for me a paramount importance.
I must thank you, and thank you for all this and much more. I will treasure the gift for days weeks, months, and years to come. I intend to keep the image as a symbol of our friendship. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you.
I hope and wish all the happiness imaginable in this world to come in your direction.
Have a wonderful year 2012, dear Angshuman-san
Yours sincerely,
Nobu.

Hi Angshu,
it is a great honor to get the three comments from you knowing that you actually don't visit this site anymore!
It is quite a bad day for France so I have picked from your gallery a picture from this country. Wonderful composition with the bridge fence making interesting pattern in the foreground. The Eiffel Tower dominates the view of course.
Beautiful view!
I plan to visit Paris in two weeks, I am a bit afraid after the recent events...
