Photographer's Note
In fact, only the façade of this house remains standing.
Mont-de-Marsan is a city in south-western France. It is the prefecture or head city of the Landes département, one of five département that make up the Aquitaine region.
Founded in the Middle Ages around the three rivers, Mont-de-Marsan was the main walled city of Landes. Its history has left a legacy that still adorns the city centre today: the Lacataye tower, which houses a museum of sculptures, medieval streets, sections of the old walls, old mansions, an old river port, parks, gardens and flower walks etc. .
The city is located south of the Landes forest, the largest forest in Western Europe. It lies some 130 (80 miles) kilometres due south of the major south-western city of Bordeaux.
According to the latest census, the city had 31,225 inhabitants, called Mons.

Ciao Stephen

Hi Stephen
love exploring and photographing old deserted properties they are such good subjects and capture the imagination. This one looks intriguing and your composition works really well at disguising the missing interior, and that is part of the charm of this image. Plus the diagonals which entice and give a real sense of its glory days, long gone.
Brian.

Good evening Stephen,
My cong.'s for youe 2000th photo posted. Though I claim that every pic. is good reason for celebration's.
Nice spotted and well rendered the detached facade from it's edifice, left to mercy... maybe one day someone will re-attached to a newly built home.
Best regards,

Hi Stephen,
Interesting shot. When I looked first, I thought that this did look like a very nice house, the exterior ole this with the stairs rising up to the door is very nice and elegant. It was only when I read your note that I realised the rest of the building is missing! Great capture. This ruin looks like it must be well kept, so I guess it's a respected part of the town.
Cheers
Noel

Hi Stephen
You are absolutely right, this house is in urgent need of attention, respectively a complete renovation. What still can be seen, is nice, but there was no maintenance at all for years if not decades. Good light management. Well done
Warm regards

Hello Stephen,
a very attractive and interesting picture that captivates and puzzles the viewer with the curious setting it presents. I like very much the interaction and juxtaposition of the two structures which are the only clues we get in order to imagine and reconstruct the story of this place. In spite of the great clarity mystery prevails. Textures are quite natural and colous are lovely. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great Sunday,
Ourania

Stephen, I love the palette on this shot - the lovely green on the right, the pink door frame, and the brownish wall in front. Great framing, concentrating on the remaining part of the house but showing us the missing rear. Thanks.

Bonsoir Stephen
Amusant sujet qui pourrait presque être un décor de cinéma. Belle ambiance dans ta composition.
Il y aurait-il une explication pour que le propriétaire ait conservé juste la facace ?
cordialement
