Photographer's Note
Rancon is a commune and village located in the département of Haute-Vienne in the Limousin region of western France. Its inhabitants, which numbered just over 500 in 2010, are called Ranconniers, Ranconnières. The population has been decreasing steadily in recent years like many French villages. At the end of the eighteenth century it numbered over 2000; the downturn started in the middle of the following century as more and more people started moving to larger towns and cities.

Hi Stephen. A sad story repeated everywhere around the world. There is a sense of loss just looking at this hibernating or even catatonic village. The side effect of this migration of the young is that so many skills are being lost and the whole concept of self sufficiency and knowing how to mend things and make do instead of rushing to buy some cheap import. Technically well taken, keeping the natural light and colours. Regards. Klaudio.

hi Stephen,
Beautiful scene, very quaint and with excellent color and light. I love your viewpoint partially leading off down the smaller street to the left. Again, excellent to capture this with no people!

Ciao Stephen
Piacevoli colori, bella nitidezza e, come tuo solito gradevoli tinte pastello.
Ciao e buona domenica
Romano

Bonsoir Stephen,
Le sujet est bien cadré. La prise de vue permet de distinguer les détails et les couleurs de l'architecture des maisons. La bonne luminosité fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne soirée.

Hello Stephen,
I love this picture for the excellent definition of its lines, shapes and colours that offers an almost graphical effect. You've used the favourable brilliance and angle of the light very effectively and the view seems composed by well placed colourful patterns. The way the perspective proceeds within the frame is enticing. When we focus on the colourful patterns they acquire a special, individual significance. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great week,
Ourania

Bonsoir Stephen
Cordialement

Hi Stephen,
They may appear simple in nature, but it sure makes for a interesting street corner, full of geometric shapes and muted pastel colors...all set under a beautifully lit sky. I really like what the clouds have done for this scene, giving an added element of definition. A nice mixture of textures to go along with the sharp detail and well balanced composition. Your note certainly gives insight to the empty feeling of the scene, even with its simple beauty there's just that little something missing, which you've conveyed through this image. Have a great week ahead.
All the best,
Jason

Beautiful tranquil scene Stephen. Everything looks so quiet, siesta time perhaps? The shot gives me the impression of a slow pace of life, the pastel shades add to the feel. Only the red door hints at a slight rebelliousness! Excellent shot. Warm regards Rosemary

Good Morning Stephen,
You have captured that quiet, timeless charm of French villages. Only an old lady with her basket could make this complete!
A lovely viewpoint gives movement in two directions, yet nothing distracts from sharp, well-positioned buildings.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Stephen
haha...according to your photo the entire town is already evacuated!! :)
Nobody around at all :)
a couple of things stand out for me, the red and orange door, and that pastel green soft color too.
I wonder how this town looked 200 years ago.
interesting post, i like it
cheers

Hello Stephen,
A lovely example of a quiet French village. The deserted street and colourful houses give the impression that everyone is asleep! Excellent clarity and a very well taken image.
Kind Regards, Ann
