Photographer's Note
Collonges-la-Rouge (Limousin, France)
Collonges-la-Rouge, one of the 'most beautiful villages of France', is 23 kilometres southeast of Brive in the Limousin. Collonges-la-Rouge is a very attractive village, and very popular with visitors to the region - the first thing you will notice is the colour of the place - more or less all the houses have been constructed from the local sandstone, which is very red!
The charm of the bright village of Collonges-la-Rouge is due to the purple sandstone which was used for all the architecture and the Romanesque church. The sandstone deposit is located in the north of the village, on the massif of Habitarelle. For anecdocte, houses are built on a white ground limestone!

Bonsoir Kris,
C'est une photo magnifique, avec des bâtiments bien colorés, et une belle végétation pour une belle touche verte. Le personnage anime bien la composition. Le ciel est sombre, on sent presque la pluie.

Hi Kris:
This is why I love photographing Europe so much. Great narrow street, probably a 400+-year-old church, dramatic sky. Your placement of the Auberge Benges metal sign is perfect. The person walking down the hill is okay but I think this would have been a great shot even without him.
Greetings from Florida.................Greg

Hi Kris
Dramatic scene.
In spite of the low light I can see the details, such as the pendant sign.

Hello Kris,
The subject was beautiful , the capture is absolutly outstanding ! All is perfect , especially the tonalities of the old stones contrasting with the dark cloudy sky . The walker is the final touch to the scene .
Excellent .

Bonjour Kris
Une belle photo qui raconte une histoire et qui nous montre avec grand art la beauté de l'endroit sous un ciel gris presque noir. L'enseigne de l'auberge est très invitante avec un temps pareil.
Amicalement

Hello Kris
A fine shot, taken from a great point of view. The colours are rich and the light well captured under a dark sky, some of it reflecting off those delightful slate roofs. I like the way the sign and the lamp are silhouetted against the sky, and of course the inclusion of the walker completes the picture perfectly. These buildings are beautiful and well maintained, and the village looks like a delightful place.
Regards,
Andrew
