Photographer's Note
Once primarily regarded as the city's Jewish heartland, Le Marais has emerged as many other things besides: its bohemian heart, and as one of its most fashionable areas with the most original shops situated in this area.
From swampy to swanky, the Marais has a fascinating history. Like an aging pop star, the quartier has remade itself many times, and today retains several identities. It’s the city's epicenter of cool with hip boutiques, designer hotels, and art galleries galore; the hub of Paris's gay community; and, though fading, the nucleus of Jewish life.
Stroll up the Rue des Rosiers, which had once the largest Jewish community in Europe. Today the street is packed with delis, bakeries, old hammams, East European Jewish restaurants and shops with huge catchy and artsy signs like this.

Bonjour May,
J'aime beaucoup cette composition. C'est d'ailleurs mon quartier préféré de Paris. Beaucoup d'oeuvres d'art sur les murs et surtout de belles perspectives.
Amicalement
Serge

Hello May,
I read your notes with interest.
That made your photograph even more interesting!
The connection between the sign and the buildings is important. I like how the lamp is appearing to send light rays over the sign.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Dear May
Next week we are off to a vacation wherein 3 days we spend in Paris...though I have been to Paris many times, always has been on business...
Any suggestions for photogenic walks? Montmartre is one & perhaps the Latin quarters?
....Now your picture entices me about Marais!
Fantasic picture and a work of art which you showed here!
Best Regards
Angshu

Hi May,
This is a really striking image, and your placement of all the elements in the photo is superb. It's like a picture in a picture, and those rays coming out of the image on the building add a lot of life. Really nicely seen and captured photo.
Cheers
Noel

at distance the image of the woman is so evident, but when the image is closer we can see these details of masks creating her aspect and the result is fantastic. excellent photo. TFS.
