Photographer's Note

Similar to others in style dotted around the French resort of Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, some smaller and some substantially larger. They were built in the first part of the last century to accommodate long stay visitors and those wanting second homes by the sea.

Saint-Palais-sur-Mer is a town and seaside resort in south-western France, located in the department of Charente-Maritime ( region of Poitou-Charentes ).

Situated at the mouth of the Gironde estuary, facing the Atlantic Ocean, on the Cote de Beaut, it geographically belongs to Royan and the Arvert peninsula.

The resort gained momentum in the late nineteenth century. It retains many testimonies of seaside architecture from the "Belle Epoque" to the "Roaring Twenties" mainly located in the surrounding pine forest.
