Le Vercors aujourd'hui est bien souvent associ� aux mots libert�, plaisir, ski, evasion,...
Ce massif est cel鋐re pour son histoire o� quelques uns ont offert leur jeunesse en refusant la soumission.
Ce matin du 15 mai, un rayon de soleil eclairait le m幦orial de Saint-Nizier alors qu'un ciel bas pesait sur les 3 pucelles , ce fameux rocher dominant la vall嶪.
Parmi ces nombreuses tombes, quelques inconnus, plusieurs nationalit廥, plusieurs religions, mais souvent un point commun: leur jeune age.
Quel bonheur de n'avoir que la m彋廩 du jour comme seul souci !

Alain, you reminded me your excellent picture of a mountain cemetery which I liked so much. Now I think you are at your best with cemeteries and crosses, possibly because their monumentality and mystery matches very well with those of your beloved mountains. This shot is made with a great pieta and respect, (also with a deal of good luck with a very good light), so I think it would be inappropriate to write about photo technicalities, which are superb anyway. Thank you.

Quel bon sujet et quel cadrage. La composition est tr鋊 belle. Le ciel tr鋊 couvert apporte un peu plus de solennit� � l'endroit.
Que de vies g歊h嶪s, que de jeunesses perdues � jamais.

Startling composition - the sunlight on the crosses, and the wet cloudy sky on the mountain behind - looks like Eternal Light is indeed shining on them!

Cette image est splendide tout simplement. La cadrage est superbe et l'廦uilibre parfait entre l'alignement des croix et le pic rocheux. La lumi鋨e extraordinaire.
La PDC et la nettet� parfaite aussi.
C'est du tr鋊 beau travail

Bonjour Alain,
I do not know this cemetery, but this specially for France soldiers? A total other system than the traditional cemeteries than the Britisher and American cemeteries in Europe, very well seen!

J'aime beaucoup ta composition, et en particulier le choix de mettre une croix d'un inconnu au tout premier plan !! Et de la mettre de la meme taille que la montagne.

Par cela, en ne donnant aucun nom, elle represente d'avantage, non seulement la personne a qui elle etait originellement destinee, mais aussi toutes les autres.

Cette composition avec ce ciel mena蓷nt, ces croix, cet inconnu sous le soleil..quel contraste et aussi quelle 幦otion pour ces vies perdues..

Les cimeti鋨es sont tr鋊幦ouvants, mais ce qui me g瘽e avec le temps finalement, c'est que syst幦atiquement, les tombes sont plant嶪s d'une croix... peut-皻re que l'inconnu est d'une autre religion, ath嶪 ou la騃... condtionnements s嶰ulaires...
A par cela, je suis d'accord avec toi sur ta chute.

Hi Alain. Nice light you had here. I like the depth created by the crosses. I like the shot but it would be nice if there was more clarity. At any rate, nice shot Alain!

what an excellent point of view and perspective. It is like you are in the middle of a crystal lattice and in any direction that you look, you see the same symmetry.

Tr鋊 bonne id嶪 que cette composition. La m彋廩 du jour 彋ait ton seul soucis, et tu en as bien tir� partie.
Je ne me suis jamais arr皻� � ce m幦orial, j'y ferai un tour la prochaine fois que je monte � St Nizier.
Tiens on vois m瘱e un morceau du tremplin des JO de Grenoble.

Very dramatic photo. The crosses highlighted with the majestic mountain in the background almost yelling out to us in pain and despair as it actually watched these poor men die in battle, maybe like it watched Romans fighting Gauls 2000 years ago for the same bit of land.

C'est une photo qui m廨iterait de figurer dans un livre d'histoire. La qualit� du clich� est au service du devoir de m幦oire. J'aime particuli鋨ement l'association des deux plans. C'est le sacrifice de vies pour un pays.

Bravo Alain pour cette photo tout en contraste avec la nettet� des tombes et la brume de la montagne. Le Vercors

Very powerful image here Alain. The sun shining on the crosses..and the dark ominous mountains in the background can be very symbolic. To me, this image is symbolic of the darkness of war, but the hope that religion can bring to survivors, or perhaps peace for those who die. Interesting shot. Thanks for sharing
