Photographer's Note

Jaunt in Brando suite.

The small fishing port of ERBALUNGA was 12th at the 18th century one of the principal wearing of CORSICA. It shelters still today the boats of a half-dozen of fishermen who practise inshore fishing. Formerly, one could see them on the quays repairing their nets using shuttles cut in stems of heather.

From 1845, BASTIA did not cease improving its port and mobilizing all the activity. Until 1870, women of ERBALUNGA and LAVASINA, operating like old sailors, were going by boat to BASTIA to sell fruits, milk, oil and wood. On the photograph, a car ferry comes to leave BASTIA for LEGHORN.

The old houses gather around the curious fishing port of ERBALUNGA. (See the workshop). At its entry, draws up the ERBALUNGA Tower, rebuilt at the end of the 16th century, partially ruined.
