Photographer's Note

This is a Rothenburg hotel we stayed at, classical 'half timbered' architecture with Victorian elements.
Starting in 1871 with the connection of the railroad to Rothenburg, tourism would flourish, in a town looking like stuck in the past. The community would learn profits would be made from hotels, restaurants, shopping, etc., by retaining its cultural charm.
In 1940, Walt Disney used Rothenburg architecture to model his movie Pinocchio upon. Later in 1971, the Japanese animated movie "Sugar a Little Snow Fairy" main character lived in Rothenburg. This popular movie would start Japanese tourism to Rothenburg. Later in 2010, filming for the Harry Potter movies would use parts of Rothenburg for scenes.
