Photographer's Note
Delicious Art
Hamburger Kunsthalle
From Berlin first back to Hamburg to post a few impressions from the Hamburger Kunsthalle.
An extensive museum complex consisting of 3 buildings.
In the Galerie der Gegenwart I photographed the next series which I named DELICIOUS ART because the work consists entirely of sweets.
The artist himself gave it the more mysterious title “Untitled” (Lover Boys).
The artificial carpet consists of Blue and White spiral Candies in clear wrappers, endless supply, and is owned by the Glenstone Museum, Potomac, Maryland, USA
The artist, Félix González-Torres (November 26, 1957 - January 9, 1996), was a Cuban-born American visual artist. González-Torres was known for his minimal installations and sculptures in which he used materials such as light bulbs, clocks, piles of paper or packaged hard candy.
González-Torres was considered a process artist in his day due to the nature of his 'removable' installations, the process being an important feature of the installation.
Many of his installations invite the viewer to take a piece of the work with him: a series of works allows the viewer to take wrapped candies from a stack and thus contribute to the fading of the sculpture over the course of time. the exhibition.
Visitors are requested not to take more than one piece of candy.

Hello Rob,
It's nice to see you back, and once again you show us a main photo that is impossible to understand without the note and the additional photos. This is among the stranger installations I have seen, and I must say that it stretches the concept of art very far. It is bound to provoke a lot of persons. I wonder how it can be "owned" by a museum in USA when the visitors in Hamburg may possibly eat all of it. But it looks good as a carpet in the WS, and you were lucky to have another visitor with a sweet tooth who helped you compose the other WS.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hi Rob,I've seen a lot of curious things from your museum raids, but this one is truly unique. Great genius of this artist who died at a young age, and the curious thing is the fact that everyone can take a piece of the work and take it home as a souvenir, did you get a candy? 3 perfect photos to help us better understand it, at first I thought they were anchovies .. ehhee .. Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Sweets art? great idea, Rob, thought those were blue eyes jems.
Fine close-up on the main photo, clear and distinct outcome.
Have a nice sunday,
Ike

Hello Rob,
Your interest in art is boundless, as I suggest is this piece of art!
I really needed your notes to understand what was being presented! It changes each day as people remove parts of the display but then, equally new sweets could be added. In that case, does the art represent what the artist originally placed there!
I suppose anything can be viewed as art, it is in the eye of the beholder, but I don't really see this as art, more a very interesting experiment on human behaviour!
Ha! Ha! but no disputing the skill of the photographer recording the proceedings!
Have a good Sunday,
Bev :-)

Witaj Rob!
The human imagination knows no bounds, a candy carpet I have not seen yet.
An excellent combination of photos.

Hi Rob,
This artwork took a lot of time to do. The point of view is showing the details of the artificial carpet. The surrounding light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Goedemiddag Lars,
Het lijkt op geklopte kiezel maar uw foto is zeker mooi en scherp gemaakt.
De variatie van kleur maakt uw foto wel aantrekkelijk.
Kleuren en scherpte zijn heel goed gedaan.
Dank voor het delen.
Prettige zondag verder,
John.

Hello Rob, I would imagine that the artist has to visit each gallery/ museum so as to ensure that the candies are placed correctly?
It is a very interesting idea, and I have never seen anything like it before. Plus the idea that visitors can actually take a sweet if they so wish!
Three good shots with your usual very informative notes.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hallo Rob,

hello Rob, Without your note and the Workshop photos it would be difficult to guess what we are seeing. Is it art? I think that the idea and the name are what counts. Such an installation is easily made. Is it Lars working in the Workshop picture?
Strange composition.
best regards Malgo

Bonjour, cher Rob,
Philippe

Hello Rob,
Missed this one. An unusual adaptation of a pile of sweets still in their plastic wrappers to create this modernist masterpiece. Good sharpness and tight framing with incredible repetition. Tfs!
