Photographer's Note

The picturesque city of Pappenheim is surrounded by Altmhl river on three sides, and with its 4000 inhabitants, is now of minor importance. This was completely different in the times of the Holy Roman Empire when the counts of Pappenheim were Imperial Marshals.
In his last part of the Wallenstein trilogy, poet Friedrich Schiller makes Wallenstein say positive words about the Pappenheimer's loyalty, which became a common proverb in Germany: "Ich kenne meine Pappenheimer!"
