Photographer's Note

This is the memorial tower at Grossbeeren erected on the hundredth anniversary in 1913 to commemorate the Battle of Grossbeeren. On 23 August 1813 the united armies under Crown Prince Charles John of Sweden and Prussian General Freiherr von B悤ow defeated parts of the Imperial French Army of Napoleon under Marshal Oudinot at the Battle of Gro綌eeren.
The picture was taken on the last day of our bicycle tour from G顤litz to Potsdam. At this point a heavy rain started and we had to stop to pull over the rain cloth. So I took the opportunity to take this picture.
