Photographer's Note

Continue my walking to Monastiraki and go away
from market, I heading to Plaka.In a small alley I
find this colourful wall from an abandoned
house.I try to understand the meaning.Many thoughts
pass from my mind! The door is locked,maybe a
a big secret lives inside.Lost fairy tales and myths
waiting the time to come back from the past...!

The words have different meaning.
Yes they did.
For all the time spent in that room
The doll's house, darkness, old perfume
And fairy stories held me high on
Clouds of sunlight floating by.

Πραγματικά πολλή όμορφη και πολύχρωμη φωτογραφια. Βέβαια δεν μπορείς να πεις ότι είναι έτσι τα παραδοσιακά σπίτια της Πλάκας αλλά μερικές φορές τα γκράφιττι έχουν και την καλή πλευρά τους.

it does ahve the fairy tale feeling to it. nice soft colors blended real well. the house became part of the art. it seems that one has to unlock the door to enter the magical world.wonderful composition. tfs.

Nice shot, the mural really does look quite fairytale-like and certainly brightens up the crumbling wall surrounding that interesting and rustic door. Superb colours.

You're right it is from a fairy tale; It's the Gingerbread House from Hansel and Gretel. They've just killed the witch and now the house is abandoned.
Excellent colours and detail you have captured; you also took me back to childhood for a while :)

Hi Thomas, An interesting painting outside of this abandoned house. It is sure better than graffiti as we have seen on many of abandoned buildings. Well seen and good capture of this special house.

I wonder, is this illegal grafitti or done by the owner... Somehow this modern expression doesn't quite fit with style of the house...

Θυμάμαι μια παλαιότερη φωτογραφία σου με τίτλο "broken love", στην οποία είχες εντάξει δημιουργικά τα γκράφιτι της Πλάκας στο θέμα σου. Αντίθετα, εδώ αισθάνομαι ότι περιορίζεσαι στο να αποτυπώσεις τα γκράφιτι και ξεχνάς ότι ο στόχος είναι να φτιάξεις φωτογραφία. Τα μόνα στοιχεία που με παραπέμπουν σε φωτογραφία είναι τα καδρόνια και το σκουπόξυλο (;) που είναι ακουμπισμένα στην πόρτα.

Kalispera Thomas, I love the gouache mood here with all those pastel colours. The combination of urban neglect and the elementary drawings word especially well together here.
This is also a very well chosen square-format compo with the main object should be in this kind of shots - just a little bit off-centre. Very good. An interesting and IMHO fitting tribute to Syd Barret and his ways.

The pastel tones make it looking like a fairy tale wall, you're right ! Well seen and composed in an effective square frame.
