Photographer's Note

Athenian cats: not many, just countless. They pop out of nowhere, for no reason, all year round; from the back yards in Anafiotika and neoclassical Kolonaki buildings to pavements and crowded avenues.

Around their necks, youll see some fancy bells or handmade collars; all nameless. Thats because they go by various nicknames, depending on who theyve adopted to look after them on this particular day or in this particular neighborhood.

Youll notice them anyway, anywhere; stretching under the sun at the ancient Agora like resting preachers; taking a nap on a park bench in the National Garden; on window sills in Kolonaki and straw chairs in tavern gardens.
