Photographer's Note
This is a photo of the Vikos gorge as seen from an observation platform. Unfortunately after all these years I don't remember which observation platform that was. The Vikos gorge is in the north-western area of Greece called Zagori. It is around 20Km long and from 400m to 1600m deep, holding the Guinness record for the deepest gorge in the world.
I took this photo with a Canon EOS 650 camera using an ND grad filter and Velvia ISO 50 film. Later the slide was scanned. Originally I was disappointed by this photo because the sky was overexposed despite the ND grad filter and the top part of the gorge was underexposed. I recently processed the photo and corrected exposure a bit, cropped as much of the sky as possible without cropping the rocks and then used a bleach filter to get this darker, less saturated more raged look that to my taste fits this scene better than the original.
