Photographer's Note

This creation of modern art, the Umbrellas, stands on the waterfront of Thessaloniki and is now considered as one of the most recognizable icons of the city.
I want also to refer to the recently wooden paved promenade dock (visible in my photo), stretching along the seafront for several km, adding a nostalgic touch to the image of the city.
There is no romantic couple that wont stop to gaze at the "Umbrellas" and to take a photo under this unique sculpture!

The "Umbrellas" sculpture on Thessalonikis new sea front is a 13-metre high artistic creation, located near the hotel Macedonia Palace.
The work was created by Georgios Zoggolopoulos (1903-2004).
It is a poetic creation, which expresses the endless vitality of its creator.
It is a pole of attraction for both residents and visitors and a popular photo opportunity spot.
Depending on the season and the weather, it imbues a different image on the space and environment.
The "Umbrellas sculpture was enthusiastically greeted by the residents of Venice, where it was presented at the 46th Biennale, to celebrate the institutions 100-year anniversary.
