The crocus means love, thanks to its legendary link to Valentine's Day.
According to legend, Valentinus was a jailed doctor and Christian priest who sent the blind daughter of his jailer a crocus. The flower's healing powers brought her sight, and her first vision was the flower and Valentinus's note, "From your Valentine."

Γειά σου Θανάση,
η φωτογραφία σου είναι πολύ ωραία, πολύ όμορφος ο Κρόκος, (στο χωριό μου τους λένε Διώχνες γιατί διώχνουν το καλοκαίρι), ανάμεσα στις αγριοφράουλες.
Μου έδωσες το έναυσμα να μάθω ποιός ήταν ο Άγιος Βαλεντίνος.
