Photographer's Note

Προάστιο (Προαστείο - Πραστείο).
Δυτική Μάνη, Μεσσηνία.

Proastio, West Mani, Messenia Greece.

Proastio is a beautiful village on a plateau above the main road between Kardamyli and Stoupa. The bridge of Proastio is located over the Vathi Langada gorge of Mount Taygetus. The fine stone arched bridge was built in 1922 by the architect Stavros A. Athanaseas.

Mani lies to the southern part of Peloponnesus, within the administrative authority of Laconia and Messenia. It is a land of stone towers, beautiful beaches and rich history. Mani is home of the Maniots (Mani嫢es in Greek). The Maniots hold themselves to be the direct descendants of the Spartans and through the Spartans the Dorians.

(I would like to thank Mr. Panagiotis for the info and for posing)
