Photographer's Note
The lighthouse Tourlitis of Andros first operated in 1887 and was renovated in 1994. This is the first automatic lighthouse of the Greek lighthousing system, as the lighthouse keeper doesn't actually reside there but observes its function from away. The altitude of cylindric tower is 7 metres and the height of focal plane is 36 metres. It is precisely found opposite by Venetian castle in the capital of Andros Island (Chora). Is the unique Greek lighthouse built on rock in to the sea. Before certain times became repairs and with private expenses rebuilded a big part of the light. The lighthouse Tourlitis right opposite Chora, the capital of Andros, will be the first Greek lighthouse to be emprinted on a stamp. The Greek Postal Authorities are launching a series of new stamps dedicated to the first lighthouses of Greece. This series presents five of the 120 traditional lighthouses of the Greek islands, unique monuments of architecture and history. (http://www.faroi.com/en/turlitis.htm)

Hello Vasilis
Great drama here, from your choice of monochrome, which makes us concentrate on the shapes and textures; and the back-lighting, which throws the forms into silhouette. I love it.

Will
