I am crazy about stairs, as maybe you remember, so how could I not to show this magnificent stairs from the Achilleion palace in Corfu town.
On the island, we stayed in Sidari and every day we made an excursion. One dya we went by bus to Corfu town. We managed to see Achilleion, Vlacherna Monastery and the Old Fortress and walk around the Old Town.

Achilleion (Greek: Αχίλλειο or Αχίλλειον) is a palace built by Empress of Austria Elisabeth of Bavaria, also known as Sisi. In 1890, she built a summer palace in the region of Gastouri about ten kilometres to the south of the city of Corfu. The palace was designed with the mythical hero Achilles as its central theme. Corfu was Elizabeth's favourite vacation place and she built the palace because she admired Greece and its language and culture. Achilleion's location provides a panoramic view of Corfu city to the north, and across the whole southern part of the island. The architectural design was intended to represent an ancient palace of mythical Phaeacia.
"I want a palace with pillared colonnades and hanging gardens, protected from prying glances - a palace worthy of Achilles, who despised all mortals and did not fear even the gods."

A great interior and also beautiful garden for this palace, well photographed, good light capture, your photos reminds me my travel in Corfou one year ago, tfs.

Hello Malgo,
I didn't see this place, as I spent most of my time in Corfu town in the streets. The architecture is impressive and amazingly richly decorated. Except for the other visitors standing in the wrong places you managed a photo of absolutely perfect symmetry.

Posiadlosc Sisi jest obowiazkowa przy zwiedzaniu Korfu. Na mnie nie zrobila wrazenia, choc pokazywane przez Ciebie detale z wnetrza sa unikalne. Moze za duzo ludzi bylo w srodku i nie moglem skupic sie na szczegolach... bardziej podobalo mi sie otoczenie, rzezby w parku, ten taras z WS i widok na wyspe ;)

A fine upward pov on these ornately decorated stairs with the repetition of the statues creating an eye catching centre of interest and focal point. Good sharpness and diffused light too. Tfs!
