Right on the busy Athinas street, the central market, also known as Varvakeios, is a hectic and vibrant market place. Split between meat and seafood and fish products on one side of the street, and fruits and vegetables on the other side, the Varvakeios offers a sensory experience. Shop for fresh olives and feta cheese, sun-kissed fruits and vegetables and even spices. The meat area may not be for all, as it is not surprising to see meat carcasses hanging up, while the fish section may require more than just a pair of flip flops due to the amount of water on the floor. Open from Monday to Saturday, the central market operates from early morning until late afternoon.

Hello Daniel,
The charged atmosphere is very well evoked in this well considered composition. I like the point of view looking between the traffic down the length of the market hall. Very good technical realisation.

Hello Daniel,

This is a fine photograph, incredibly sharp for such a busy scene!
There is no doubting the activity, the hubbub, I can almost hear the noise of traffic and people!
Te f/g is is full of wheels, of by-passers to the market, but with a great sense of depth we can see into the dark recess where the illuminated stalls show that trade is taking place.

A remarkably lively photo from you..;-). This picture really has a fine rhythm thanks to the motorbikes and cars going in opposite directions and the crowds disappearing into the darkness of the mall. The photo is very well balanced, with good symmetry in spite of the chaos.

Great view down the large market hall, we can still some of the stalls further away. It's a really busy place, you included the many people and the busy traffic with cars, vans, scooters and a motorcycle really well in the foreground.

This must be one of the most bustling areas judging by sea of humanity, transports etc all seem to be in a hurry - a typical 21st century rat race which is common in the world. Nicely captured candid scene, Congrats.
