At the cliff, a photo from Lakonia, Peloponnesus

Photographer's Note

The town of Monemvasia was once a important town on the Peloponnese coast. In the town there were 800 houses and 40 (!) churches at the foot of the cliff and on its slope. Today, almost all homes are abandoned, there are only 10 families. As more and more tourists visit Monemvasia, the main street is full of restaurants and shops with souvenirs and local products.

Hi Ryszard,
A very appealing photo with the traditional village at the foot of the huge cliff !
What a pity it has nearly died as a real life place and it is only there for tourtists.
Well at least it will keep it going.
Great POV with the village coming down in diagonal from the vertical cliff towards the horizontal line of the sea.The large, orange roof adds some welcome colour.
Good inclusion of the photographer and his child's cute little head admiring the panorama.

Spectacular - village and cliff. A pity when villages get abandoned for tourists. You still haven't said whether you climbed up to the cliff top fort.

A good photo of this town, which looks so small at the foot of the impressive cliffs. The colours are very attractive in this fine sunlight. Very well captured with perfect sharpness and clarity.

The point of view is well chosen to show us how the town rises up the hillside in the lee of the cliff. Personally I would be inclined to clone out the partial view of the people in the foreground, though they do serve to give the composition depth. I like the overall division of the image into the main constituent parts. Also, the light and warm/cool colour contrasts. Clarity is impeccable.

The steep cliff's shapes and formation immediately draws the eye but interesting that the buildings almost camouflage into the environment. Presence of visitors add scale and proportion on what looks an awesome place sculptured by nature, Congrats

A well composed shot with the cliff starting in the top left corner and the city wall terminating in the bottom right corner. Good sharpness and the tourist snapping a photo animates the scene. Tfs!
