Photographer's Note
A photo taken 2 days later in Rhodes of our terrace.
This cloud of smoke also comes from forest fires in Turkey, Antalya and Marmaris.
Of course, life did not stop in Rhodes either. At around 7 o'clock on Sunday morning, the chair in the room began to sway a little below us. It was a weird feeling.
It turned out that not far from Nisiros (the island is of Vucal origin, the tourist attraction in the crater to this day to bake eggs), there was a 5.8 magnitude underwater quake, which was also felt in Rhodes.
To make us feel like a disaster tourist, a forest fire broke out, 14 kilometers southwest of Rhodes Town, near the island’s only power plant. We were also able to follow the lights of this after dark.
Meanwhile, due to an electrical short circuit while extinguishing the fire, at 4 p.m., power went out over the entire island. This thing lasted 8 hours. Dinner time has fallen, but the restaurants are closed. He who did not eat before him was hungry. Some of the larger hotels had backup power supplies, there was electricity. Wax candles were found in the other accommodations. It was cozy.
Of course, the internet service was also suspended until morning.
So, to relax, we went to the Grand Master’s Palace last night to watch an evening Teodorakis concert. The performance was good, but the many dramatic songs didn’t make us too happy.
I wonder today, as the island will surprise us :-)
In WS, I attach 2 more photos.

Hi Csaba,
Nice light and colors, well managed the capture of these lights. Good and original effect with red sun and golden horizon, tfs.

Hi Csaba,
An ominous smoky pall in the skies from the current fires in Turkey. I caught the boat from Marmaris to Rhodes and back. It was an excellent diversion from my trip around turkey. A good sunset shot with superb sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Csaba,
You had more 'excitement' than you had anticipated!
Perhaps a little frightening, but a great subject for a talking point, when everything is safe again!
The shadowy features in the f/g show up well against the sky, whilst the brightness over the sea guides us to the focal, red ball of the sun.
A moody shot, especially when linked to the notes!
Have a safe day,
Bev :-)

Hi Csaba,it seems like a tale of a day of war and not a holiday ... ahaha ... fires, earthquakes, lack of electricity, and to end the evening a sad concert to fuel despair ... I hope tomorrow goes a little better for you and above all that they manage to tame the fire that is destroying the Turkish coast. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Csaba,
Micsoda giccses kompozíció, még a napot is sikerült belekomponálnod. Pfej.
Na jó, befejeztem a köpködést, néha kell ilyen is. A sztori mellesleg érdekes.
Gy.

Hello dear friend
your photo is romantic and dramatic too...
I red carefully your thoughts about
happened to you during your holidays
at Rhodes...sometimes we are not so lucky
during our holidays but lets hope that
everyhting will be better next days..
You are well come to my city Volos
too with great hospitality from
me personally....unfortunately the
fires destroyed the greatest part
of greek forests base on criminal s plans...
the future will prove what happened...
